The brand new XL750 Transalp only recently arrived in dealers and has already proven to be hugely popular, with a large forward order list for the remainder of the year. Commenting on the Best Adventure Sub-1000cc award, MCN said:
“Equipped with a light chassis, a punchy parallel twin, riding aids and a colour TFT display that allows for connectivity, the Transalp offers a full package for very sensible money.
From blasting up and down the smooth tarmac curves on the side of Mount Etna to tackling sodden green lanes in the heart of Lincolnshire, it performs admirably. The Transalp really is a do-it-all machine, that offers a broad range of capability at a sensible price.”
Complimenting an already extensive scooter range, the ADV350 mixes the tough adventure style of its X-ADV sibling with a rugged chassis specification that includes tubular steel frame, 37mm USD forks and remote reservoir rear shocks. The screen is height adjustable, there’s room for two full-face helmets under the seat and a USB Type-C socket in the glovebox. An LCD dash integrates the Honda Smartphone Voice Control system, while Smart Key operation adds day-to-day riding convenience. On the Best Urban Petrol award for the ADV350, MCN stated:
“A bike that is unashamedly unique in its outlook, the ADV350 makes for a practical urban bike that delivers genuine big-bike handling and braking performance with a level of road presence that brings effortless confidence. Developing such a leftfield bike was certainly a risk but with the ADV350, Honda’s bravery has definitely paid off.”
The Honda CB500X was again named the Best A2 bike for the fifth consecutive year, with the junior adventurer continuing to earn plaudits for its all-round ability. On the award, MCN commented:
“Scooping the award for a remarkable fifth year running, Honda’s CB500X remains the best do-it-all for those on a restricted licence. Or even those who hold a full licence and just want an easy-going machine that is economical, bags of fun, sweet handling and comfortable for either a daily commute or weekend adventure away. Effortlessly versatile and well-priced, it is no wonder the CB500X is such a popular model in Honda’s range.”
Reflecting on the awards, Neil Fletcher, Head of Motorcycles at Honda UK said, “Motor Cycle News is a leading authority on motorcycles, so we are all delighted to continue this winning streak. It’s great to see both the ADV350 and CB500X winning on multiple occasions, the latter now winning for the fifth consecutive year showing how versatile a product it is for both new and existing riders. But to see the Transalp return to our product line up and take the honours in such a competitive sector, is hugely satisfying!”
